Hm, hm... dA prints - to buy or not to buy, that seems to be the question.
I have to say, i bought pritnts from dA - my own, I bought mine for other people and I bought other people's prints.
And everyone, including myself, was over the moon with the quality.
Yes, dA rips us off, royally and shamelessly. But what I really get ticked off with is people's hipocricy. My favourite is: "Yes, I looove the prints but I refuse to buy them because the artist doesn't get enough, I'd rather contact them directly and buy it from them.".
Oh, c'mon! Like you really care about how much I get, please!! Complete bullshit, excuse my language.
In almost 2 years I've been on dA, I sold over 50 prints and over 40 calendars. Not once, NOT EVEN ONCE, anyone contacted me directly to enquire about buying my prints directly from me. If people could afford it/wanted it, they bought it without a complaint.
Just recently, I bought 30 of my own prints (that ought to bump up the stats, LOL) 20x30cm, because I am selling them in a humanitarian auction, and some of them for my portfolio.
I live in UK, and I chose the Next Day shipping option. You know how much I paid all up? For 30 high quality prints?
£70.
Now, I'm not saying it's nothing, but with the entire service they come out as just over £2 a piece. I think that is really not that bad at all. And I damn well think that if you are not the artist who made the picture, you should part with £5 for the same print, which is just about how much it would cost you, witth a biot of profit for me too. Yes the shipping is awful, but that's why i save up, have a wishlist and wait and buy lots in one go, so i save on the shipping (which still should be cheaper, i must add).
It could be better, yes. dA has become greedy and there are some shady, talentless admins who are blowing smoke up their own... yes, and travelling the world with the money that should go to the artists, BUT IT AIN'T THAT BAD.
What hurts me the most is when people lie that they would buy heaps of prints, but from the artist directly.
Those poeple are full of shit and they know it.
But just on an off chance that I am wrong, here's an offer:
IF YOU REALLY LIKE ONE OF MY PRINTS, CONTACT ME IN THE NOTE, LET ME KNOW WHICH ONE, THE SIZE AND YOUR OFFER, AS WELL AS COUNTRY WHERE YOU LIVE, AND WE'LL MAKE A DEAL.
Look at this new one, for example:

Ain't that purdy?
